Continuing its haul of national and international accolades, The House Crowd has been named in the O2 Smarta 100 – the ultimate index of the UK’s savviest, supremely disruptive, most resourceful and socially-beneficial small businesses.

Established as the world’s first property crowdfunded investment vehicle in 2012 by entrepreneur Frazer Fearnhead, The House Crowd has revolutionised how would-be investors, including those with smaller budgets, invest in the UK property market.

In total, 2014’s Smarta 100 are generatingrevenues of over £70million a year and employing more than 640 people. More than a half are self-funded, with just 5per cent borrowing from a bank. 35 per cent have taken angel, private equity or VC funding. The oldest company founder is 56; the two youngest are just teenagers at 19.

There are further awards to be handed out as part of the O2 Smarta 100 ceremony, which will take place on Thursday 14 November at RIBA in Central London. The House Crowd could be named as the UK’s most innovative business at the awards. A cash prize of £1,000 goes to each category winner, with £10,000 going to the overall O2 Smarta Business of the Year.
